The Houston Firefighters Relief
and Retirement Fund Memorial Committee had a Memorial
Ceremony on March 17, 2007 on the grounds of the Pension Fund
office in the Memorial Garden located at 4225 Interwood North
Parkway, Houston, Texas 77023 and cordially invited Mr. Harry
Bolhuis, the Sculpturer of the "Arch of Freedom" bronze statue,
as special guest.
The "Arch of Freedom" is a powerful symbol, featuring the
likeness of an American Eagle and an image of firefighters,
raising the American flag amidst the ruins of the World Trade
Center, crafted by artist Harry Bolhuis to honor the memory of
those fallen heroes.
Mr. Bolhuis will be presenting one of his "Arch of Freedom"
statues to the Honorable George W. Bush, the President of the
United States.
The President has graciously accepted Mr. Bolhuis' generous gift
and this statue will be placed on display in George W. Bush's
presidential library.
